Green Stem's Founder

Anita is a Development Economist and Public Health Nutritionist passionate about social and environmental impact and justice. She has worked internationally with the United Nations, various NGOs and donor governments on humanitarian and development issues for the past twenty years.

​

Born and raised in Kenya, Anita’s multicultural background and international exposure blend creative home-grown and global solutions to tackling the plastic pollution problem. She exemplifies women driving change in sustainability and circularity in Africa. She is a passionate, innovative, and determined entrepreneur and change-maker.

 

Anita is guided by an experienced Board of Directors with long experience in corporate finance, business strategy, manufacturing, engineering, compliance and packaging both in Kenya and internationally. She is supported by a small but growing Kenyan team and is leading a significant scale up in Green Stem’s operations. Anita’s approach is rooted in research and development, collaboration and partnership and a focus on the highest quality standards.

Anita is not only tackling the plastic pollution problem but ensuring that Green Stem’s manufacturing process is also circular with regard to recycling of water and clean energy.  She goes to great lengths to create green jobs for women, youth and people with disabilities. She is working with technology and design partners globally to ensure that Green Stem’s solutions are truly sustainable leaving little or no footprint behind.
